A Long Weekend in Seabrook, Washington

Its summertime in Texas which means its hot, sweaty, and I’m constantly dreaming about escaping to somewhere cooler. This year, I kept hearing about Seabrook, Washington as a quaint coastal town that people often compare to towns along 30A (our favorite yearly vacation spot), so I knew we had to check it out! Plus, the summer weather is HEAVENLY! It was between 50-60 degrees at the beginning of July, and if that isn’t perfect, I don’t know what is!

We spent two days here before driving down to Astoria, Oregon for a day. It was a quick trip, but definitely felt doable, since its not a huge town. Here’s where we stayed, what we did, and all the details of this fun, summer trip!

Getting there:

We flew from Austin → Portland, and rented a car to drive from there. It was a long travel day, but getting 2 hours back with the time change definitely helped! It took us a little over 3 hours to drive from Portland to Seabrook, and while we had originally looked into flying into Seattle, the prices/times just weren’t as good. If you fly into Seattle, it is a quicker drive!

Where we stayed:

We totally lucked out on where we stayed! Though the town is pretty small/walkable, I would definitely recommend trying to find an Airbnb/rental as close to the main town center as possible. We found ours through Airbnb and it was about a 3 minute walk to town, AND had a patch of woods behind it.

One recommendation that we didn’t do, but I kind of wish we had, was finding a place with a hot tub! This would have been so fun to warm up at the end of the day!

What we did:

This town is packed full of possible activities (basketball court, playground for kids, hiking trails, pickleball, etc.), but I will be honest that we aren’t the sportiest people. We spent most of our time exploring the hiking trails and walking along the beach. The beach scenery is so different than the beaches we are used to in Florida, and it feels so magical seeing the ocean on one side, and the trees on the other. We also did a lot of eating + exploring all the shops in the town square area.

One recommendation that I loved, was making my own candle at Lorraine’s Candle Studio. It was such a fun keepsake from the trip, and something I had never done before!

Where we ate:

Breakfast at Vista Bakeshop each morning - this really is the main spot for a good cup of coffee + yummy baked goods! We could smell the bread walking up, which was the perfect way to start the morning! Plus, you can eat outside and say hello to all the dogs that walk by!

Lunch - we actually hit up the grocery store for lunch and made our own charcuterie board!

Dinners -

Koko’s Restaurant: the very best views of the beach and delicious Mexican food!

Rising Tide Tavern: A good mix of casual and nice, we watched some World Cup games here!

The Stowaway Wine Bar: a fun pre/post dinner spot to grab drinks!

Overall Takeaway:

This was such a fun little spot that I am so glad we checked off our bucket list! It’s still small/growing, but would be such a fun place to take a family trip, especially with kiddos. Its a great spot with plenty to do, but also quiet enough that you can relax without feeling like you are missing something. We can’t wait to come back in a few years!
