Here & Where roundup: my weekly five week three

Week #3!

What a fun way to bring a little joy into August! I will be honest, this is probably my least favorite month of the year… between the hot, hot Texas weather (it’s 106 as I’m writing this, oof) and being 3 months into not having consistent childcare, August always feels like a bit of a push for me. I can see September, football, childcare, and slightly cooler weather in my near future, but we aren’t there yet. Starting my weekly five roundup has created some fun structure in this chaotic month.

Baked: Cookie Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies - recipe here!

I originally planned to make a brown butter cookie, but after picking up some cookie butter on my latest Trader Joe’s run, this recipe felt more important!! And a little more “fall!”

These turned out SO good. They are rich, but they are good! In an attempt at self-control, I ended up halving the dough and freezing some for later. Even with half, I was able to make 9 large and delicious cookies!

Wore: My Bombas Slipper Socks

You know when its 100F outside, and you have your air running all day long? Then, you’re sitting inside freezing like an icicle because its so cold from the air running all day long? This has been my dilemma the past few weeks, so cozying up when I am inside has been a lifesaver! I’ve had these for a few months (and I usually go through slippers quickly!) and they’re still in great shape.

Currently looking at these, too! They look like a fun, different kind of slipper and I know I like this brand! PS - they have a “one purchased, one donated” model, which I love!

Made: This Painting!!

I’m in full nesting mode and one of my projects in adding a little bead board/hook situation by our front door. I’m thinking I’ll hang this there, though I don’t hate it sitting at this spot in our kitchen, either!

I did about four coats of paint to find the background color I was actually going for, and then drew this flowers on with…. pen!! In all honestly, I couldn’t find a pencil to use to trace the flowers that I had originally planned on painting, so I just went at it with a regular old pen, and honestly love how it turned out?

Bought: Linen Napkins (as curtains!)

In an attempt to begin turning our dining room into a makeshift nursery (small house things!!), I was looking for window coverings for some of our windows in there that are kind of oddly sized. One is really small, one is normal size, and we have french doors that currently have curtains, so I was trying to match those, too.

I’m not a big spender, and had originally planned on buying some bamboo-type blinds, but weirdly, they get kind of expensive when you try to custom make a small size? That, and blinds.com still hasn’t shipped the free samples I ordered weeks ago, so I got a little antsy and ordered some tension rods, linen napkins, and curtain hooks and got the job done! I’m a fan of using napkins as curtains (a hack I saw on Pinterest years ago!), because they are a little cheaper, and not as curtain-y looking.

Linking the napkins we got here and here.

Thankful: Evening Walks + Lectio 365 App’s Evening Prayers

I’ve really been trying to walk/water my garden in the evenings when the heat feels slightly more tolerable. Lately, I’ve been loving listening to Lectio 365’s evening prayer as a way to close the day out. It’s free, short, and creates a really lovely evening routine after a chaotic day!
