Here & Where roundup: my weekly five week two
Week 2
Here we go! What I baked, wore, made, bought and am thankful for this past week!
Another week off of Instagram, and I continue to be amazed at how much time I seem to have to do other things! My newfound energy may also be coming from some 2nd trimester nesting desires, but either way, I’ll take it!
One reason I’m enjoying this format, is that it really is forcing me to think about creating things on a weekly basis that I probably would just keep putting off in the past! I have so many recipes/diy crafts that I have been pinning and dreaming about for years, but finding the time to actually make them has been ✨
Baked: Pumpkin Bread
I really wanted to try to wait until September for this one, but honestly, I’m just so dang ready for fall to be here, so I went for it! It has been yummy, though not as moist as I had hoped! However, I think I’ll keep testing it and will make it again in the future…Here’s the recipe I used!
Wore: Seersucker + Gingham galore!
These have been my favorite this summer… I am a sucker for a good gingham midi dress. Here’s the one I wore twice to work this week (perks of being a counselor and being able to wear the same outfit every day for a week straight ha!) except I never took a picture of myself, so here is one from our beach trip a few weeks ago!
Sadly, this one isn’t available anymore… but I linked some similar ones here.
And, an honorable mention for this beautiful red gingham dress that I rented from Nuuly last month!
Made: Shell Stepping Stone
It’s my mother in law’s birthday this week, and the shell crafts are continuing! Up this week, a shell decorated stepping stone with our son’s name and handprint on it. I’ll be honest, I didn’t really enjoy this one…. the handprint was weirdly hard to make? And trying to get a toddler to keep their hand still for more than .1 seconds just feels impossible. I’m happy with how it turned out, but not sure how much I’d recommend!
We used this kit from Michaels that was only $8!
Bought: Pajamas!!
Another nesting craving I think… all the cozy pajamas! These modal pajamas from Gap are my absolute favorite, and they were on sale so I just had to! Plus, Davis needed some new PJ’s too, and these were on sale at Gap as well. All linked here if you’re interested!
Thankful: Rocking Chair Goodwill Find
I guess this could fall under my make category as well, but, I have been eyeing a rocking chair specifically for those first few postpartum months when I want to take baby #2 and rock on the porch outside. There are few things more calming to my nervous system than a good rocking chair session, but buying them new was feeling a little expensive, especially when we have great patio furniture already (patio furniture that doesn’t rock, mind you, but patio furniture nonetheless).
Enter, our weekly Goodwill trip and I stumbled upon this! Not 100% what I had in mind, but I thought I just may be able to turn it into something beautiful!
the before picture!
A good cleaning, and a few coats of paint (that we already had!) later, and this is what I was able to make! For $6.99! So, I’m feeling grateful for this fun find that allowed me to have a rocking chair that I can enjoy as the weather cools down in the next few months and once this baby gets here. Those moments of finding treasures like this feel like little answered prayers from God!
