Here & Where roundup: my weekly five

Week 1

I’m starting something new! The Here & Where roundup: my weekly five is a space to reflect and share five different things from the previous week: something I baked or cooked (with a recipe!), something I wore, something I made or worked on around the house, something I bought, and something I’m feeling thankful for.

I always love reading people’s versions of these, and I love the accountability, especially in the baking, making and gratitude categories! I always enjoy getting into a rhythm of doing these things weekly!

So here we go! The first installment of the here & where roundup: my weekly five ✨

Baked: banana chocolate chip muffins

Okay, this was my second friday in a row making these delicious banana muffins! I subbed semi-sweet for milk chocolate chips, but other than that, stuck to this recipe. They’re great to snack on all weekend (and usually gone by Sunday!), and I see making many more of these in my future!

Wore: Piyama pajamas

A pregnant woman’s dream! These are a bit of a splurge for me, but I asked for a giftcard a few years back and have been wearing these pretty consistently ever since. They’ve held up great, and are perfect for the days when you want to stay in your pjs, but also feel slightly put together.

They don’t sell this pattern anymore, but I also have these. And, eyeing these for my next pair! I think they’d be perfect for fall!

Made: shell magnets + artwork

After our trip to Rosemary Beach where we collected a bunch of shells (thanks tropical storm bertha!), I had a few ideas of what I wanted to do with them that wasn’t just letting them sit in a jar somewhere collecting dust. With some framed canvases I was looking to reuse, some clay, and a hot glue gun, this is what I came up with. I wrote up a full how to here.

Bought: Magnolia yellow stems + Cultivate prayer journal

First up, these pretty yellow stems from the Hearth & Hand section at Target! They’re perfect for fall, and were only $5.99 each! Plus, they’re big and don’t look too fake, which I’m always on the hunt for!

And second, this wonderful journal from Cultivate. I have been using these journals for my time with God for years now. I specifically got the “refresh your mind” one, but have been through many of these throughout the years! I always look forward to adding them into my daily routine.

Thankful: pool time with friends + rocking chair moment

I’m not sure if it’s getting off Instagram for a week, or just getting to slow down a bit as summer come to an end, but gosh, I had a lot I felt really grateful for this week. Here are my top 2:

Pool time with friends - I have loved this routine this summer. Being 6 months pregnant with an energetic toddler in 100F heat has been… a challenge. But, there’s nothing better than chatting with mom friends and sitting in a cold pool while Davis gets to splash and get some energy out. Even though we don’t have a neighborhood pool, I’m thankful for generous friends who invite us over and let us hang out!

Rocking chair moment - Another perk (or difficulty?!) of summer has been that our nap schedule has been a bit off. This usually means more contact napping to make sure we get some rest time in. This week, I had a moment as I was holding our toddler, feeling baby #2 kicking in my belly, and truly thought “This, this is what it’s all about and I am so dang blessed.Pregnancy is hard, managing summer schedules of working + no daycare is hard, but these moments really are such a special reminder of how blessed we are.
